This one arrived already built — rooftop tent, awning, Alu Black canopy, aluminium sump guard, Baja Champions. Serious money spent making it capable of going a long way from a workshop.
Which is why underneath mattered. Gravel dust packed into every seam, coil springs blooming, leaf packs gone brown, the diff housing the colour of the road. None of it damage yet — all of it the start of damage.
The aluminium sump guard is the catch. Aluminium does not rust; the steel it bolts to does, and a bash plate is a very effective lid on a very wet box. It came off, the mounts got treated, it went back on.
